Bio
Cedric Brown has three decades of deep and varied leadership in the philanthropy and nonprofit sectors. As the head of a California-based family foundation for nearly 15 years, Cedric amassed a significant track record as a partner and funder of political, educational, and economic empowerment initiatives. He later managed global Obama Foundation Leaders programs and launched two programs in direct consultation with the former president. Cedric is a staunch supporter of Afrodescendant and LGBTQ+ communities as well as human rights and the arts. He was an Atlantic Fellow for Racial Equity in 2019, and now serves as AFRE board chair. He has served on numerous other governing and advisory boards, currently including the Panta Rhea Foundation and the Sonja Haynes Stone Center for Black Research and Culture at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
